This is a coal fired thermal power station (capacity 2x125 MW) at Barapukuria about a km away from the mine mouth. GoB has decided to add a 3rd Unit of 275 MW to the same PS. For this, a turnkey contract has been awarded to a Chinese Contractor and the design of the PS is in progress. It has been decided to engage a consortium of an international and a national consulting firms as Employer’s Engineer to check design, documentation, oversee installation of the PS, its testing/commissioning, and hook up to the national Grid.
