RURAL DEVELOPMENT

- Rural Infrastructure Development Project - 13, Bangladesh: Planning, design and supervision of construction for upgrading 730 km of tertiary roads to all-weather standard, construction of 1,300m of drainage structures, upgrading of 70 rural markets; development of a computerized inventory of the client's construction equipment and setting up repair/maintenance workshops.

- Forestry Master Plan, Bangladesh: Identification of policies and institutional reforms which will lead to more rational development and use of forest resources and protection of the environment. Demand and supply of forest products were estimated to year 2015 and measures recommended to close the gap.

- Second Rural Infrastructure Development Study, Bangladesh: Feasibility study for improvement of tertiary and rural roads and appurtenant structures to help in the agro-socio-economic development of the project area.

- Rangpur Region Rural Development, Bangladesh: Integrated development of the northwestern districts through provision of improved physical infrastructure, creation of greater employment opportunities and income through agriculture and livestock extension services, introduction of improved practices, provision of credit, training in non-farm activities, improved literacy.

- Second Rubber Development Study, Bangladesh: Evaluation of an earlier project, high-lighting achievements and short-falls with particular reference to plantation development and management, rubber processing and marketing, infrastructure development and institutional strengthening. Inferences were drawn and used for a feasibility study of a second phase .

- Barind Integrated Area Development, Bangladesh: Re-excavation of 6,000 derelict ponds and some 500 kms of canals/creeks with installation of necessary water control structures to support the massive irrigation development, water management and afforestation programme of Barind tracts; systems design and distribution network planning for electrification of about 4,000 DTWs.

- Evaluation of Functional Education Program, Bangladesh: Evaluation of a project to assess whether the lessons imparted to about 8,000 persons have fulfilled the literacy/numeracy needs of the learners; analysis of effects of the programme on the daily lives of the learners; identification of causes of poor performance/dropouts, and recommendations on improving the programme.
